letter to the jehovah's witnesses

I have read the literature that you brought to my home. I think that your religion is very much like all other religions, an overcomplication of a simple situation. Here is my simple story of Jesus.

1.) Jesus saw indisputable evidence of the existence of a living God.
2.) Jesus developed a direct relationship with the living God.
3.) Jesus told others that they could directly have a relationship with the living God.
4.) Other people started to listen and see the truth of his words.
5.) This threatened the Roman Empire and the Jewish church.
6.) They killed him.

If Jesus came back and had the same message, who would it threaten.
THE AMERICAN CAPITALISTIC EMPIRE AND ORGANIZED RELIGION
What would they do? They would kill him.

All religions seem to contain the concept of the elect or the chosen. Is this not an appeal to human pride and vanity? Pride and vanity are deadly sins, with good reason.

Does God or Jesus need your worship? Wouldn't that be attributing the deadly sin of vanity to them?

If God knows what is best for your life and has a plan for you, why must you pray? It seems to me that it would suffice to open your mind to God and just listen. Of course you must learn to recognize the voice of God. Satan will try to interfere. With practice, it is pretty easy to recognize satan's interference. A christian friend of mind said that confusion is one of satan's primary tools. What does religion do? Why are there so many varieties and flavors of christianity? I think that all religion is most likely a tool of satan.

TRUE SERVICE TO GOD COMES FROM A DIRECT CONNECTION AND SHOULD NOT BE BASED ON BRIBES OR COERCIONS.

What does God want for us?
I belive that God wants us to connect and listen so that we may learn to live in the way God knows is best for us.

How do we get there from here?
1.) Organized religion can perform a service for God. Speak out against the AMERICAN CAPITALISTIC EMPIRE. It is a primary tool of satan.
2.) Disband all organized religion and use the accumulated power and wealth to truly help people, with no strings attached.
3.) If the fear and pressure placed on people by the empire and the church is removed, I sincerely believe that people will hear the quiet voice of God and will connect and develop a relationship.
4.) TIME IS SHORT. WILL YOU ACT OR WILL YOU CLING TO YOUR WEALTH AND POWER?

Sincerely,
Daniel William Givin A.O.T.L.

Daniel! Where have you been?

And what does A.O.T.L. stand for?

"Organized religion can perform a service for God. Speak out against the AMERICAN CAPITALISTIC EMPIRE." Ah, but unforunately or fortunately, many following organized religions have reworked the system into something from which they can benefit. Millions of people reading the Left Behind dreck choose to follow, you know?

Some of the members seemed upset with me so I gave it a break. I am not really that interested in "pop" culture anyway. For some reason , I felt like sharing this piece. I actually did give this to the Jehovah's witnesses. They came to my house twice and gave me literature, which I read. I gave them two CD's of mine also. I wonder if they will read and listen. I will probably attend their church once and see what the reaction to me will be.

They are succumbing to a bribe and a coercion. How could that possible be of God?

Don't ever let anyone's opinion prevent you from posting. Read my November column, in which I say this with prettier words.

Actually, in fairness, modern Judaism does, in fact, emphasize the fostering of a one-on-one relationship between each of us and God. Rabbis, unlike Priests, are not believed to have any sort of monopoly on communication with God, or even any sort of special power to do so.
